Exercise should be a ‘core treatment’ for osteoarthritis


According to the latest guidelines from the National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE), people with osteoarthritis should be exercising to help reduce pain and improve mobility.

The recommendations include:

  • advising patients to participate in exercise as a ‘core treatment’
  • offering weight loss interventions for patients who are obese or overweight
  • providing patients with holistic assessments
