Congratulations Gareth on your amazing performance at the Brighton Marathon

Our amazing Physio Gareth Crankshaw has just taken part in his first ever marathon – and he smashed it! Gareth ran the Brighton Marathon on 2nd April and he finished the race in the fantastic time of 2 hours and 57 minutes. This means that Gareth was 148th runner to finish of the 8397 runners that took part in the race that day.

This isn’t the only race that Gareth will be running. On 2nd October he will be running The London Marathon. Gareth will be raising money for the charity Children with Cancer at this race. Watch this space to find out how you can support his fundraising activities.

Gareth will be following his training schedule over the next few months to allow him to recover from the Brighton race and prepare for the London Marathon. Gareth and his colleagues at Keith James Physiotherapy have a great deal of experience of helping runners to prepare and recover from all sorts of races – from Parkruns to ultramarathons.

If you are thinking of running a race this year, why not contact us to see how we can help you to achieve your goal. We can provide physiotherapy, massage and personal training to get you in the best shape to meet your challenge.

Updated Covid-19 Advice for Patients (April 2022)

Here at Keith James Physiotherapy, we maximise the safety of our patients and staff by following ongoing advice given from Public Health England and the Chartered Society of Physiotherapy following the COVID-19 pandemic and beyond.

Please do not come into the clinic if you are experiencing symptoms of Covid-19. The recently updated list of symptoms includes:

  • a high temperature or shivering (chills) – a high temperature means you feel hot to touch on your chest or back (you do not need to measure your temperature)
  • a new, continuous cough – this means coughing a lot for more than an hour, or 3 or more coughing episodes in 24 hours
  • a loss or change to your sense of smell or taste
  • shortness of breath
  • feeling tired or exhausted
  • an aching body
  • a headache
  • a sore throat
  • a blocked or runny nose
  • loss of appetite
  • diarrhoea
  • feeling sick or being sick

We continue to take measures to protect our staff and patients at the clinic, including:

  • We ask you to arrive at your appointment time and not any earlier.
  • Patients should come to their appointment alone (unless they are a child or require a carer).
  • Please use the hand sanitiser to and from entry to the clinic.
  • Please minimise your contact with handrails and furniture.
  • Please wear appropriate clothing for your appointment. Patients with upper limb issues should wear a vest top and patients with lower limb issues should wear loose fitting shorts.
  • We have staggered our appointment times to reduce waiting room traffic.
  • Staff ensure all clinic areas are cleaned regularly with disinfectant and between patients.

As always, you can be reassured we are staying up to date with advice and guidance on best practice. Should you have any concerns or queries, please contact us on (0117) 330 6820 or email [email protected] for more information.

New additions to the KJP Team

We are excited to announce a number of new additions to the team at Keith James Physiotherapy.

We have three new Physiotherapists: Will Adams, who joined us in December 2021, and Agnés Canadell and Zaheer Hussain, who have just taken up posts at our clinic. Agnés will be taking over from Giles Head and will be working on Tuesdays and Fridays. Zaheer will be with us for the next 6 months to provide maternity cover for Katherine and Sara, who are on leave until later this year. You can find out all about our three new Physios here.

We can also announce two new additions of a different kind. Katherine and Sara’s babies are the youngest additions to the KJP Team. Katherine’s baby, Freddie, was born on 24th December and Sara’s little girl, Naia, arrived more recently, on 7th March. We wish them both many congratulations.

Along with the arrival of new faces at Keith James Physiotherapy, we have said ‘Farewell’ to a much-loved colleague, Giles Head. After many years at KJP, Giles has now moved on to a consultancy-based role.

Giles became part of the KJP team back in 2000, when he first joined services with Keith as Head Academy Physio at Bristol Rugby Club. Over the following 22 years, Giles was a loyal and experienced physiotherapist who made an enormous contribution to the clinic. He provided effective and reassuring physiotherapy to the many patients who came to see him and he was a real pleasure to work with. Keith is still very much in contact with Giles, both professionally and socially – and we would all like to take the opportunity to wish him well in his new ventures.

If you would like to book an appointment to see any of our team, please call the clinic on (0117) 330 6820, email [email protected] or book online at www.keithjamesphysiotherapy.co.uk.
