Welcome to Sophie Pearce – our new Women’s Health Physiotherapist

Keith James Physiotherapy is delighted to announce the addition of Women’s Health Physiotherapy to our list of services. The service will be delivered and coordinated by Sophie Pearce, a well-established clinician who passionately believes in the role of physiotherapy in this field.

Sophie qualified in 2016 from Kings College London. It was during her time as a physiotherapy student that she undertook a Women’s’ Health placement, and since then she has always been passionate about specialising in this area and helping women achieve their goals. She has worked in the NHS for nearly 10 years and has spent the last 4 years as a Specialist Women’s Health Physiotherapist at Southmead Hospital. Prior to this, Sophie worked as a senior musculoskeletal physiotherapist, so is able to bring this extensive expertise into her assessments.

Women’s Heath Physiotherapy is a speciality dedicated to the assessment and treatment of pelvic floor problems. Whether you are pregnant, have recently had a baby or gave birth decades ago, seeing a specialist women’s health physio is something that can be done at all stages of life.

Sophie will be offering a comprehensive pelvic health assessment and treatment service for a range of problems, including:

  • Post-natal pelvic floor rehabilitation – including obstetric anal sphincter injuries.
  • Bladder incontinence
  • Pelvic organ prolapse rehabilitation – especially for those wishing to avoid surgery, or prepare for surgery
  • Post-operative pelvic health rehabilitation
  • Menopause related pelvic floor changes.
  • Pelvic pain – including vaginismus and dyspareunia

Farewell to Zaheer!

We are very sad to say farewell to physiotherapist Zaheer Hussain, who has been with us at KJP for the past 12 months. He initially came in to cover maternity leave for Sara Ayala and became such a popular member of the team with staff and patients alike, he stayed on for an extra few months.

However, growing up in Stockport, with family and commitments up north, Zaheer has made the long journey back up the M6.

A thoroughly good and decent chap, an excellent clinician, and really good company. Zaheer will be missed, and we wish him well for the future.

Get ready to hit the slopes!

If you are counting down the days and weeks to your skiing holiday, you might be thinking about how best to prepare your body to get the most out of your trip. The team at Keith James Physiotherapy can help you to get ready to hit the slopes.

As well as treating the injuries that happen during the ski trip, physiotherapists are really good at preparing you for your holiday. They can help you with niggling back issues, which can get worse on hard-packed snow. And when the snow is deep, catching your skis in the snow can cause knee ligament issues to be exacerbated. Why not make an appointment to see one of our physios and sort out any pain or stiffness before you head off.

Physiotherapists find that preparing for a ski holiday by investing in fitness, strength and endurance training can help you to avoid succumbing to common skiing injuries. And when you return from your skiing trip, don’t forget to book yourself in for a relaxing massage to help with the aches and bruises you picked up along the way.

Call us on (0117) 330 6820 to book an appintment or book online on our website.

Gareth’s amazing performance at the London Marathon

Many of you will know that our fabulous Physiotherapist Gareth Crankshaw has been training for the London Marathon. We are delighted to say that he completed the race on Sunday 2nd October in an amazing time of 3 hours and 6 minutes!

This was an extra-special day for Gareth as he was racing in memory of his late father, who died of cancer 3 years ago – and in support of the charity Children with Cancer, for which he has already raised over £2000.

I know that you will join us in congratulating Gareth on his brilliant run at his first ever London Marathon. There is still time to support Gareth in his fundraising for Children with Cancer – you can visit his Just Giving page to donate.

New Supervised Gym Rehabilitation sessions available at KJP

Keith James Physiotherapy is pleased to announce a new initiative starting this Autumn – Supervised Gymnasium Rehabilitation with our Sports Therapist, Kate Stone.

Following assessment with one of Physiotherapy Team, patients will have the option to purchase blocks of continued rehabilitation in our modern, spacious, and airy gymnasium.

Research suggests that continuing rehabilitation exercises consolidates recovery following injury or surgery – and improves confidence, general well-being, mobility, balance, strength, and power.

Our Supervised Gymnasium Rehabilitation sessions are designed to be relaxed and friendly and are tailored to the needs of each patient. Kate will help you maximise your mental and physical potential following your physiotherapy treatment, allowing you to return to a more full and active life. Individual, specific exercises, set by your physiotherapist and monitored by Kate, are a sure way of achieving your goals.

How does it work?
Sessions run twice weekly for up to 1 hour with a charge of £20 per session. You can attend once or twice weekly depending on your personal goals and aims. Kate will be there to monitor, supervise, motivate, and reassure – helping you to achieve your goal of a more active, physical, pain-free life.

To find out more – or to book yourself in for a block of Supervised Gym Rehabilitation sessions, please call Reception on (0117) 330 6820.

Sara is back!

Our fabulous physiotherapist Sara Ayala is back at Keith James Physiotherapy from 3rd October. Sara has been on maternity leave after the birth of her daughter Naia, in March. She is looking forward to reconnecting with her KJP patients – old and new.

Sara’s diary is now open, so contact the clinic to get yourself booked in. You can call on (0117) 330 6820 or book online at our website.

Farewell to Kirstie & Katherine

Two of our fabulous team are moving on from KJP and we want to take this opportunity to wish them well.

Kirstie Guy, our Massage Therapist is leaving our clinic to study Physiotherapy. We have loved working with her for last few years and wish her every success in her studies.

We are also saying goodbye to one of our Physio team, Katherine Hills. Katherine gave birth to her second child at the end of last year and is going to be very busy indeed keeping up with two little ones.

We will miss Kirstie and Katherine, but it has been great to have the chance to work with them and get to know them during their time at Keith James Physiotherapy.

August Bank Holiday Closing

Our clinic will be closed for the Bank Holiday on Monday 29th August. We reopen on Tuesday 30th August. We hope you all have a lovely bank Holiday weekend.

If you would like to book an appointment to see one of therapists, please visit the online booking page on our website – or give us a call on (0117) 330 6820 on Tuesday, when we return.
