Podiatry is primarily concerned with the treatment of disorders associated with the foot, ankle or lower limb.

Podiatrists examine how the feet function when walking or during sporting activities and assess how this can affect the rest of the body during movement. As the lower limbs deal with high stress loads during movement, the body can develop injuries and pain if the feet are not working efficiently. This analysis is referred to as biomechanics. Using biomechanics and gait analysis (the study of walking patterns), a podiatrist can identify factors that could be contributing or causing your injuries or problems and can help you to recover and minimise future risk of injury.

Some of the conditions that we treat at Keith James Physiotherapy Clinics include:

  • Plantar fasciitis (Arch pain)
  • Metatarsalgia
  • Mortons neuroma
  • Hallux valgus (Bunions)
  • Shin splints
  • Achilles tendonitis
  • Sports injuries and biomechanics
  • Chiropody – Foot and nail care
